Robin loved growing up in Evansville, Indiana, but he knew from a young age that he wanted to experience life beyond the borders of his home town. Commissioned as an officer in the United States Marine Corps after graduating from college, Robin spent the next eight years serving in various locations around the world, including right down the freeway at Camp Pendleton. As a Marine, Robin became an avid runner, participating in several marathons and beginning his lifelong love of fitness activities and competition.
After completing his service as an active duty Marine and serving our country in Desert Storm as a Marine Corps reserve company commander, Robin spent the next 30 years in medical device sales, eventually retiring from Johnson & Johnson. He and his wife, Martha, raised a son while living in Missouri, and that son now proudly serves our country as an officer in the United States Navy.
As empty nesters the traveling bug bit once again, and the Kinney family embraced relocations to Florida and New Jersey, before settling in California. This new chapter brought more than a change of scenery, it also began Robin’s love affair with cycling. Whether racing through the flats of Florida, grinding it out in the mountains of New Jersey, or weathering snow and ice at the Cyclocross World Championships in Louisville, Kentucky, Robin feels his best when sitting on a bike saddle. California’s great weather and geographic diversity has only added to that love.
Robin is the luckiest man alive to have a chance to bring his passion and love of cycling to the G2 family as AJ’s new partner. Buying his first road bike was a life changing experience, and Robin hopes to inspire others to enjoy the fitness and social benefits that cycling has to offer.
